As an old Chinese saying goes, “Horses run rapidly while our lucky time is coming”. While the spring wind spreading across China, the air in Tongji is full of the fragrance of flowers. On the coming of traditional Chinese lunar New Year, I’d like to extend New Year wishes to all the Tongji staff and express our heartfelt gratitude to all the friends for your consistent support and understanding.
In 2013, guided by the spirit of the 18th National People’s Congress, all Tongji staff strive forward together to carry out the TOP development strategy, therefore, every course of the hospital has improved a lot. With the number of outpatient and emergency cases exceeding 3.8 million, the indices of discharged patients has reached 143,000 and over 70,000 operations have been conducted, ranking the top in the country. In 2013, 12 more national key disciplines assisting programs have been approved, adding up to 30 in total, ranking the third in China. We have won 109 national science funds and the total sum of science and research achieving ￥148 million. Besides, the management skill has been improved. In 2013, we have passed the Top Hospital Annual Quality Security Evaluation and been awarded as one of the Best Hospitals in China. In the latest China Hospital Ranking published by Fudan University, Tongji remained the top 10 in China.
We owe all the achievements to the comprehensive demonstration of the implementing of the 18th National People’s Congress, to the consistent “patients-oriented” medical service of our staff and to the sincere trust and understanding of all the patients.
The year of 2014 will usher a new page of the medical healthy system reform in China. Therefore, we are facing the severe challenges that how to stay ahead in the wave of the reform and go on making more contribution to the patients. We will continue to devoting our energy to improve the medical care, teaching and research as well as the management with the traditional “strict, realistic, pioneering, innovative, whole-hearted and constantly improving” spirit.
