Creating World-Class Hospital Steadily and Confidently

The first sunshine of 2018 just sprinkled on Tongji hospital. Hereby, on behalf of all Tongji colleagues, we’d like to extend our best wishes to you all and expressed our great thanks to those who offered their concern and support to the hospital development in the past year.

In 2017, we have always been carrying on our mission and marching forward without hesitation to participate in the public hospital reform positively and boost scientific innovation to make a great progress in all rounds.

Attaching first importance to a firm and correct political orientation. We have conscientiously studied the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, steadily strengthened our consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, uphold the leadership core, and keep in alignment, fortified our confidence in the socialist path, theories, system and culture with Chinese characteristics and used Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to lead the guidance of the hospital practice and to devote ourselves in Health China Construction career.

Participating public hospital reform career. Strictly abiding by the state policy to carry forward the public hospital reform implementation. Fully accomplishing multiple national tasks of supporting poverty-stricken areas.

Continually providing better medical service. The number of outpatient and emergency visits surpassed 6 million, the discharged over 260,000 and the inpatient operations over 100,000 with the main medical index ranking still the top in China.

Yielding fruitful harvest in talents training strategy project. Prof. MA Ding of Gynecology and Obstetrics was appointed as Academician of Chinese Engineering Academy. Prof. WANG Hui of Gynecology and Obstetrics was appointed as Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholar, Ministry of Education.

Adding splendor in S&R work. We have gained 155 NSFC funds, ranking the first among all national medical organizations and won the second prize of National Prize for Natural Sciences. The number of international papers citation ranked the second. Organ Transplantation Lab was passed the reviewed of NHFPC review. Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery Research Center hosted by Academician CHEN Xiaoping was located in our hospital.

Gaining new achievements in teaching work. Eight experts from eight disciplines were elected as the chief-editor and associate-editor of national programming textbooks. Winning the first prize of National College Students Clinical Competence for the consecutive third year. Holding the first Tongji Clinical Medicine Education Summit Forum successfully.

The integrated management and equally superb service system among the headquarters and the two branches has attracted wide attention and gained highly compliment. We have firmly carried forward the management method of Same Management Same Quality ideology to provide better medical service to surrounding areas.

Gaining highly social reputation. In 2017, we have again passed the National Best Unit assessment and ranked the Best 10 in China and the first in Central China in Chinese Hospital Ranking List.

Life lies in diligence. All these harvests are resulted from our colleagues’ hard-working. The year of 2018 is a year of hope. We will strictly follow national policy and further explore public hospital reform methods. We will steadily put forward the "Double First- Class" university project and cultivate top innovative teaching talents and improve S&R capability. We will continue to promote the reform innovation and improve modern hospital management system. We will use our two academicians’ effect to build an academic team and establish large-scale S&R platform to provide an impetus to our S&R development so as to provide better medical service to the society.

Dear colleagues, our hospital now lies in the departure of a new era and a new journey. We will never forget our original intention and keep on looking ahead to build an open, innovative, beautiful and happy hospital, and to promote the world-class hospital construction so as to make great contributions to national health care development.
