At the beginning of the Year of the Tiger, the operation of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Training and Research in Rehabilitation of Tongji Hospital has once again been approved. Since its establishment in 1990, the Center now serves for the 9th term of office and is led by Prof. Huang Xiaolin and Associate Prof. Lu Min of the Department of Rehabilitation.
In the past 30 years, it has been dedicated to continuing education and training for professional and non-professional rehabilitation personnel at home and abroad to support the development of clinical research related to rehabilitation, vigorously promote the rehabilitation work in communities and disseminate professional knowledge of rehabilitation.
In the next four years, it will continuously provide training for international and domestic rehabilitation personnel, render translations and give publicity to important medical information. In addition, the center will also shift a focus to adolescent posture and spine health in the main duty.
Looking ahead, the WHO Collaborating Centre for Training and Research in Rehabilitation of Tongji Hospital will continue to carry out its work while concentrating on "disability, rehabilitation, training and research", which are also the responsibilities designated by the WHO. It will strengthen cooperation with the WHO and other collaborating centers to give full play to its influence in Hubei and China and make greater contributions to the rehabilitation.
