On June 19th, a delegation led by Mr. Dominic McAllister, British Consul General to Wuhan, and Mr. Arvind Norris, Trade and Investment Consul visited Tongji Hospital. The visit was received by Professor Zhu Wentao, Vice President, Ms. Wang Manting, Deputy Director of the International Medical Department, Professor Li Zhanfei's Trauma Surgery team, Associate Professor Wu Min's Plastic Surgery team, and colleagues from the International Exchange Office.
Vice President Zhu Wentao first expressed his welcome to Mr. McAllister and his delegation, highlighting that Tongji Hospital's mission is to promote the health of the people, and that health is a common language that connects different countries and ethnic groups. He expressed the hope for increased cooperation between Tongji Hospital and the United Kingdom in the healthcare sector to enhance the health and well-being of the people of both countries and to promote the friendship between the two nations. Mr. Liu Jie of the International Exchange Office then provided a detailed overview of Tongji Hospital in terms of overall situation, layout planning, and significant innovative breakthroughs achieved in recent years. Deputy Director Wang Manting of the International Medical Department introduced the international medical services of Tongji hospital, expressing the hope to provide high-quality and efficient medical services to British nationals in Wuhan and throughout China.
Mr. McAllister expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by Tongji Hospital, noting that this was his first visit to the hospital since assuming his post in Wuhan. He praised the long history of Tongji hospital and the development achieved in recent years.
He emphasized that fostering cooperation between British universities, medical institutions, and Tongji Hospital in healthcare is a key focus of his future work. He hoped that both sides could consolidate existing cooperation and looked forward to opening a new chapter in the partnership through today's visit.
Subsequently, both parties conducted in-depth discussions on topics of mutual interest.
