At the invitation of Dean Wang Daowen, Professor John Longhurst, Dean of Samueli Center of Integrative Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, California University, visited Cardiology Department of Tongji from February 24 to 26, 2012, giving an academic lecture and exchanging opinions with the staff here.
With the theme of Mechanisms Underlying Activation of Cardiac Sympathetic Afferents during Myocardial Ischemia, Professor Longhurst held the seminar to communicate with over 80 medical members, postgraduates and undergraduates of Cardiology Department. Dean Wang Daowen later led the guest to the Cardiology Department wards, particulary CCU, and gave a brief introduction of the drug treatment and ward management.
Professor Longhurst provided some suggestions to the lab work, expressed his affection to China and also his gratitude to the hospitality of the staff in Tongji Hospital. He was eager to come to China again and also welcome the counterparts from Cardiology Department to contact the science and research work in his lab in the US.
