25th Annual Meeting of Chinese-German and German-Chinese Societies of Medicine Held in Tongji Hospital

From Sept. 19 to 20, 2012, the 25th Joint Meeting of the Chinese-German and German-Chinese Societies of Medicine & 6th Chinese – German Symposium on Hospital Management was held in Tongji Hospital, Wuhan, China.

During the meeting, doctors and managers have extended wide discussion on “Chinese-German Health System Reform”, “Long-Distance Medical System”, “Drug Management”, “Chinese-German New Medical Technology Development”, “Disaster Medicine”, “Hospital Management” and so on.

Mr. Jun Zhou from Medical Service Supervision Regulation Department of Health Ministry introduced the development of Chinese public hospital management and pointed out the tasks in the future.

Secretary of State Annette Widmann-Mauz shared with the audience the medical reform experience and achievement in Germany. About 90% of German have the medical insurance and can receive good medical treatment in out-patient, in-patient and drug aspects. President Rainer•Hese told the audience only the patients who are seriously sick will go to the hospital. It is not so surprising that there are hospitals with over 10,000 hosptial beds in China because the medical resources have not be reasonable distributed.

Vice-President Hongshan Li from Chinese Hospital Association accepted the interview and told us the public hospital reform should not only reduce the patients’ burden but also make sure the normal operation of the medical organization. Besides, while broadening the development scale, the public hospitals should also improve the medical service quality at the same time.

Professor Anmin Chen, President of Chinese-German Society of Medicine and President of Tongji Hospital pointed out the important role the big public hospitals play in China which are the regional medical treatment center, the origin of new medical technology and training center for medical staff and so on. In addition to that, the large public hospitals are also important in leading the village fundamental medical care, international communication and state medical reform.

Under the Framework of societies of medicine, the bilateral parties have conducted close cooperation in disaster medicine system, scientific and research system as well as medical reform and so on.
